Leadership Committees

The Charter of Clear View School specifies a governance structure that embodies a shared responsibility for planning and decision making.  The school director functions much like a principal, however she has the additional responsibility of coordinating the cooperative efforts of the leadership committees.

Parents, teachers and community members serve on the four leadership committees: PartnershipTechnology,  Curriculum and Assessment, and BudgetEach leadership committee selects a chairperson, vice- chair, and recording secretary. Minutes are taken and published. Meetings will be conducted in accordance with standard rules of order.

The Staff Liaison Team (SLT) and the Special Council are special  governance structures to insure the participation of the school staff and parents in the school planning and decision making. 

Staff Liaison Team

The SLT is compromised of the Director, six teachers and two classified staff selected by their peers according to the following distribution, All members serve a single two-year term.  Thereafter, all member will serve for two years.

The SLT is an advisory body with the Director having the responsibility of final decisions in the following matters:

  • Interviewing prospective employees. (Additional staff and/or parent will be invited to attend interviews depending on the grade level and assignment of the interviewee)
  • Deciding grade-level and room assignments.
  • Supervising the process of personnel evaluations

Additionally the SLT will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing human resource responsibilities not listed above  resulting in recommendations  to the Special Council for approval
  • May be called upon to participate in the dispute-resolution process as outlined in the site grievance procedure found in the additional points of the Clear View Charter.

Special Council

The Special Council is comprised of the following representatives:

  •  The Director
  • 1 Classified employee selected by peers
  • 4 Teachers, one from each of the leadership committees
  • 6 Parents elected at large in a school-wide election by parents, to also serve on one of the Leadership Committees.
  • 1 Representative of the Staff Liaison Team

Members serve for two years and may be reelected. The Special Council meets eight times a year (first Wednesday of the month at 3:30pm, with no meeting in December and April)  and is responsible for determining the meeting schedule for the leadership committees.

The Special Council is responsible for coordinating the efforts of the leadership committees and resolving disputes. The Council determines site policy, approves the annual budget, coordinates enrollment and school calendar decisions.
